Visit China: Find out if you need a visa

- You are a resident of Hongkong, Macau, or Taiwan.
You need a Permit.
For residents of Hongkong, Macau or Taiwai, a special permit is needed to enter mainland China. Because you are travelling within one country, no passport or visa is required. Please obtain the neccesary permit according to the following description.
If you are a resident Hongkong and Macau, you will need a Home Return Permit (also known as Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents) for multiple entries or an Exit and Entry Permit for single entry to mainland China.
- For residents of Hongkong or Macau, you need a Home Return Permit (also known as Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents) for multiple entries or an Exit and Entry Permit for single entry to mainland China.
- For residents of Taiwan, you need a Taiwan Compatriot Permit (also known as Mainland Travel Permit for Taiwan Residents) for multiple or single entries to mainland China.
